Police release CCTV after elderly woman's purse is stolen in Stocksbridge

Officers investigating a reported purse theft from an elderly woman in the Stocksbridge area of Sheffield have released a CCTV still of a woman they believe could hold vital information.

At around 12.20pm on Wednesday February 19 it is reported that a woman in her 80s was shopping at the Co-op supermarket on Johnson Street, Stocksbridge.

Whilst inside the shop, it is believed an unknown suspect approached the elderly woman’s trolley while she wasn’t looking and stole her purse from her handbag.

Bank cards from within the purse were later used to withdraw money from cash machines.

Police believe the woman pictured could hold vital information and are appealing for her, or anyone who recognises her, to get in touch.
