POLICE stopped over 60 people on the streets of Woodhouse and Mosborough in a crackdown on burglaries, metal thefts and car crime following an increase in offences.
Operation Aerial was run in a bid to identify offenders and reassure residents crimes are being taken seriously by local police officers.
Hi-visibility and undercover patrols were carried out by officers on foot, in cars and on bikes. The police helicopter was also used.
A total of 63 people were stopped and spoken to or searched as part of the operation with two receiving Fixed Penalty Notices for drug offences.
During the initiative 15 properties were identified as at risk of break-ins and were advised to step up their security.
Another 19 vehicles were also found to be vulnerable with motorists advised to remove valuables on display and lock doors and windows found open.
Two arrests were made by officers investigating the theft of metal from an allotment site in the area.
