Police probe into shooting on Sheffield estate continues

A 12-year-old boy was injured when a gun was fired from a passing car as he stood with friends on Northern Avenue, Arbourthorne, last Sunday afternoon.

He was taken to hospital for surgery and remained there yesterday.

Police believe the youngster was an innocent bystander caught up in a feud between two rival gangs.

The intended target of the shooting is believed to have been in the Arbourthorne area at the time.

There have been a number of shootings on the estate over recent months.

Two men, aged 30 and 25, have been arrested over the shooting.

Last night, the younger man remained in custody, where he was held on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

The older man has been released on bail.
