Police probe into murder of Doncaster boy, 2, continues

Detectives are continuing to investigate the death of a two-year-old boy in Doncaster today while two murder suspects remain in custody.

A murder probe was launched yesterday after the young boy, from Adwick, died in hospital.

Paramedics were called to a house on Bosworth Road at about 11am on Wednesday, January 8 after the two-year-old went into cardiac arrest.

He was taken to hospital but could not be saved and died yesterday afternoon.

A post mortem examination is thought to have taken place last night.

A 36-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both from Adwick, were arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday and remain in police custody this morning.

Detective Chief Inspector James Axe, the senior investigating officer in the case, said: "The loss of any life is tragic, and the death of this little boy is undeniably devastating. Our thoughts are with those who are affected and our specialist officers will continue to support them.

"We have a dedicated team of officers assigned to this investigation. Two people are in custody and we are working hard to establish the exact circumstances leading up to this child's death."

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Anna Sedgwick, from Doncaster, said: "We will have officers in the area and encourage anyone who has any concerns, or would like to speak to someone, to approach a member of our team.”
