Police probe launched after swan and duck 'shot and killed' in South Yorkshire

Police have launched an investigation after a swan and a duck were reportedly shot and killed in South Yorkshire.

Officers said the birds were discovered by a woman who was walking along the Chesterfield Canal in Rotherham at 8.20am on Friday.

Another swan is also said to have been shot and injured.

Police are appealing for information about the crime.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Officers are now carrying out enquiries including reviewing nearby CCTV footage.

“Anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting investigation 14/69336/20.”
