Police probe into burglary of Sheffield pensioner’s home

A Sheffield pensioner returned to her home to find three burglars running out - after ransacking the property.

The 75-year-old was approaching the front door of her home on Worrall Road, Wadsley, when the three men ran out.

When she entered her house she discovered that it had been searched and items were missing.

Police said the OAP was unharmed during the incident at around 11.55am last Thursday but had been left ‘shaken’ by the ordeal.

Detectives have arrested three suspects over the incident, who have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “A 75-year-old woman approached the doorway of her home and witnessed three men run from the front of the property.

“Fortunately the woman did not sustain any injuries however she is very shaken by the incident and property had been taken from inside her home.”

Meanwhile, a 76-year-old woman was robbed on a Sheffield street.

The woman was walking along Britannia Road, Darnall, at around 9.30am on Sunday when a man approached her and grabbed her handbag.

He then ran along Britannia Road, onto Main Road and down Fisher Lane.

The robber was around 5ft 5ins to 5ft 6in tall and slim.

He was wearing a dark hooded sweater and blue trousers.
