Villiers Close in Arbourthorne was cordoned off yesterday after a shooting the night before.

Nobody was reported to have been injured but a police search of the area, after a report of a ‘bang,’ discovered evidence that a gun had been fired.

South Yorkshire Police said officers are remained ‘open minded’ over possible links between three other shootings on the same estate two weeks earlier.

In a 30 minute crime spree, on Tuesday, November 19, shots were fired at an address on Errington Avenue and Eastern Avenue and a gun was fired from a vehicle on Errington Way.

A 35-year-old man attended the Northern General Hospital with a shotgun injury to his leg that night.

Witnesses or anyone with information on the latest incident should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 834 of December 2.
