TWO men are being hunted by police for cashing fake cheques made out to the value of £8,000.
The two men cashed or attempted to cash six cheques, purporting to have been made out by a firm of solicitors in Lancaster.
They used banks in South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lancashire, with a cheque for £2,750 cashed in Wickersley, Rotherham, one for £2,700 cashed in Worksop, and one for £2,500 cashed in Dinnington.
In another attempt, in Bawtry, a cheque for £2,760 was presented to a cashier, but the man wanting to cash it was challenged and left empty-handed.
Anyone who recognises the two men or has any information about the attempts last summer should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference number A/66798/2011.
