An investigation is underway into an assault on a train conductor in Barnsley.

Officers were called after a woman was grabbed by a passenger and pushed towards the door when he decided he no longer wanted to travel.

PC Fiona Poyner said: “The man boarded the train at Darton but decided he no longer wanted to travel and began demanding to be let off the train. “He grabbed the conductor’s arm and pushed her towards the door causing her to sound the emergency alarm.”
