Police patrols stepped up after shooting in Sheffield

Gunfire was heard in the Villiers Close area of Arbourthorne at 9.20pm yesterday and police officers were deployed.

A cordon was set up and during a street search today, officers found evidence of a shooting.

South Yorkshire Police said: “The road remains closed and there is a significant police presence.

“Enquiries are under way to establish the circumstances of the incident and our neighbourhood officers are carrying out additional patrols.”
