Police patrol Sheffield woods following reports of 'suspicious' man with 'bag of magazines'

South Yorkshire Police has been patrolling the woods in a Sheffield suburb after numerous reports of a man acting suspiciously in the area.

An update from South Yorkshire Police said that officers had been patrolling Beauchief Woods in the mornings and interviewing dog walkers and people using the trail in the area.

This comes after reports on social media of a man in the woods ‘following’ people who were walking dogs on their own.

One witness said that police were called by a woman who was followed ran to the green keepers, who called the police. They reported that the man threw away ‘two bags containing magazines’ and ‘latex gloves’ as he was running away from officers.

Police have confirmed that there have been no further reports of the suspicious man since they started patrolling the area.
