Police open yet another shooting investigation after weekend of gun violence in Sheffield

An investigation has been launched into another shooting in South Yorkshire – at least the ninth in nine days.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed today that a gun was fired towards a house in Spalton Road, Parkgate, at 1am yesterday.

The force said no injuries were reported.

Two men, aged 28 and 30, both from the Rotherham area, were arrested by officers a short time later and remain in police custody this morning.

Details of nine shootings have been released by South Yorkshire Police since January 4.

The day before the Parkgate incident, a 12-year-old boy was shot in his leg when a gun was fired from a car on Errington Road, Arbourthorne, Sheffield, at around 3.45pm.

He was an innocent bystander caught up in a feud between two rival gangs.
