A policeman has been charged with attempted murder after an incident at a hotel.

Emergency services were called after concern for the welfare of a woman at a hotel on Brook Street, Manchester, at 11.30pm on Thursday November 10. She was taken to hospital where she remains stable. James Riley, aged 27, a Lancashire police officer, was arrested and charged with attempted murder. He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on November 14.
