Police make second arrest over shooting of boy, 12, in Sheffield

A second arrest has been made over the shooting of a 12-year-old boy in Sheffield.

Officers arrested a 25-year-old Sheffied man this morning on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Yesterday, a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the same offences.

Both suspects remain in police custody.

A police investigation was launched after a 12-year-old boy was injured in a drive-by shooting on Northern Avenue, Arbourthorne, at 3.45pm on Sunday.Police believe he was an innocent bystander caught up in a dispute between two rival gangs.

There have been a number of other shootings in and around Arbourthorne over recent months.

The injured boy was taken to hospital for surgery after the shooting.Witnesses or anyone with informatio should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 516 of January 12.
