Police make second arrest over double shooting in Sheffield as man is held on suspicion of attempted murder

A second man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over a double shooting in Sheffield.

An 18-year-old man is being held over two shootings on the Manor estate on Wednesday, January 6.

In the first incident a gun was fired at a property on Castledale Croft just before 8pm and an hour later there was another shooting on neighbouring Prince of Wales Road.

A 42-year-old woman and 23-year-old man who were inside the Castledale Croft house were injured but did not need hospital treatment.

There were no reports of injuries in the second incident, in which a person was fired at.

Both shootings are being treated as targeted attacks by detectives.

They are also believed to be linked.

A 27 year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder yesterday remains in police custody today.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Detectives are still progressing the investigation and are still keen to hear from anyone with information or dash-cam footage.”
