Police launch investigation after man left with facial injuries in West Street attack

Police have launched an investigation following an assault in West Street on Saturday night that left a man and a woman with minor injuries.

South Yorkshire Police said the force were called at 9.28pm on Saturday (May 29) to reports of an assault where a group of four men assaulted a man and a woman before stealing a chain from the man's neck.

The chain is believed to be worth around £2500.

The offenders fled the scene before the police arrived.

West Street, Sheffield

A police spokesperson said: "The man and woman both suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital via ambulance to receive hospital treatment.

"Enquiries are ongoing to locate the men responsible. If anyone has any information that might help our officers, please call 101 quoting incident number 1060."

In a short clip that made its rounds on social media, several police vans were spotted in the area during the night of the incident.
