South Yorkshire Police said PCSOs identified a number of ‘vulnerable’ vehicles while patrolling the city centre on Thursday, December 5.

PCSO Harriet Murray said: “During this time of year, police statistics show a slight increase in thefts from motor vehicles. This is often due to people having their Christmas shopping and presents in their vehicles.

“PCSOs have conducted patrols around Sheffield city centre. They noticed a number of vehicles which we would deem as vulnerable. These vehicles had been left with presents and shopping visible on the backseat or in the boot.

“Make sure that all your shopping is out of view, preferably in a boot that is covered.

“Be vigilant of people around you when you are putting shopping into your vehicle and then leaving again.”
