Police issue warning after vehicles swiped in Sheffield burglary

Police are warning residents to be on the alert after vehicles were stolen in a burglary in Sheffield.

The residents of an address on Edgehill Road were disturbed by their house alarm at 4.50am this morning (Monday, January 2) after an attempt to gain entry was made via the kitchen window.

Officers attended and a witness suggested that a tall male with a dark grey hoody and light grey tracksuit bottoms was seen getting into a silver vehicle.

During this same evening a burglary took place at Adelaide Road, which runs parallel with Edgehill Road.

Two vehicles were stolen after entry was gained through the kitchen window.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Please be alert to suspicious activity and contact 101, or 999 if there is a crime in action.

“Please also hide your car keys. Do not leave them visible to any windows. This advice follows for handbags, too.”
