Police issue statement after reports of shooting near Sheffield primary school

Police cordons were put in place near to a Sheffield school after reports of a shooting.

Firshill Crescent, Shirecliffe, was sealed off in two spots yesterday while officers responded to reports of gunfire.

The cordons were close to St Catherine’s Catholic Primary School.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called to Firshill Crescent at around 2.50pm yesterday to reports of shots being fired.

“There were no reports of injuries.

“Enquiries are ongoing."
