Police issue statement after men fight with scaffolding pipes in Sheffield city centre

A 40-year-old man has been arrested following reports of men fighting in Sheffield city centre.

Police were called at around 2.20pm on Saturday, May 30 following reports of men fighting on Haymarket.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray, assault of an emergency worker and a racially aggravated assault without injury.

“He has been bailed pending further enquiries.”

Nobody is believed to have been injured during the incident.
