Police issue CCTV image of gunman wanted over armed robbery in Barnsley

Detectives investigating an armed robbery in Barnsley have issued a CCTV image of the culprit in action.

He was caught on camera in Coral Bookmakers in Garden Street, Darfield, which he held up at 5.40pm on Monday, November 16.

The robber, who was carrying a gun, threatened two members of staff with the weapon before stealing £700.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “No shots were fired during the incident and no one was injured.

“Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may recognise the offender in the CCTV image.

“The man is described as about 5ft 10ins and of a slender build. He was wearing a fluorescent orange high visibility vest with a black jacket underneath, black gloves and beige combat trousers with black patches between the knee and ankle. “He was also wearing a woolly hat and a black scarf to cover his face.”
