Police issue CCTV image after woman in her 80s targeted by purse thief in Sheffield

Police in Sheffield have released a CCTV image of a woman they want to speak to about a purse theft from a woman in her 80s.

At around 12.20pm on Wednesday 19 February, it is reported that a woman in her 80s was shopping at the Co-op supermarket on Johnson Street, Stocksbridge.

Whilst inside the shop, it is believed an unknown suspect approached the elderly woman’s trolley while she wasn’t looking and stole her purse from her handbag.

Bank cards from within the purse were later used to withdraw money from cash machines.

Police believe the woman pictured could hold vital information and are appealing for her, or anyone who recognises her, to get in touch.
