Police issue advice after lead swiped from Sheffield home

South Yorkshire Police have issued advice after lead was stolen from a Sheffield property.

In the last few days, a quantity of lead has been stolen from a property in Fulwood.

Offenders have driven onto the driveway and stripped the lead from the porch before leaving.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Although the numbers of this type of crime has reduced over the years, one way of protecting the lead from being taken, is to coat it in anti-climb or anti vandal paint as it is sometimes called.

“Due to the consistency and ingredients of this product, it stops the lead from being melted down and as such, potential offenders are deterred from removing it.

“In addition, the colour after painting, indicates the flashing has been coated.

“This product can be purchased from any DIY outlet for approximately £10.”
