Police investigation into body found on M1 causes motorway closure
Police have closed the M1 in South Yorkshire after a body was found on the road in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called shortly after 3.20am this morning (Wednesday 15 April) following reports a body had been found on the northbound carriageway of the M1, near to junction 31.
Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and the carriageway is closed to allow those enquiries to take place. It is expected to remain closed for some time.
The investigation is in its early stages and no further information is available at this time.
The M1 is closed on the northbound side between J30 Barlborough and J31 Aston due to an ongoing police incident.
Road users in vehicles under 14ft 3 are advised to follow the ‘solid circle’ diversion signs.
Those in vehicles taller than 14ft 3 should follow ‘solid triangle’ diversion signs.
