A TEENAGE girl was assaulted by a mugger who tried to steal her mobile phone.

The 16-year-old was on a footpath outside Allens Cottages, between Eastgate and Kilton, Worksop, when she was targeted on Monday, December 17, at about 4.30pm.

She was shoved by the man and punched, before he demanded her phone and money, but she managed to push him away and the mugger fled empty-handed.

The offender was white, in his late teens, slim and about 5ft 9ins. He had short blond hair, prominent front teeth and was dressed all in black.

Police are also investigating a similar incident on a footpath outside Asda, in Memorial Avenue, Worksop, on Sunday, December 9, at about 4pm, where two men threatened a woman in her 40s.

The two men were both on bikes.

One pushed her up against a wall and snatched her handbag before they both rode away.

One offender was white, slim and around 20 years old. He had shaved brown hair, a gaunt face and was wearing a dark-coloured long-sleeved top and blue jeans.

The other was white and was dressed in dark clothing.
