Police in Sheffield are stepping up patrols following reports of 'bogus traders' targeting elderly and vulnerable victims.

They said PCSOs would be on high visibility patrols around Chapeltown and High Green where there have been numerous reports of tricksters offering to do jobs like roofing or garden work.

PCSO Patrick Slingsby said: "Please be mindful when speaking to these people, and notify the police should you be approached by people offering these services, either by using the 101 number, online reporting, or by letting your local officer know.

"Please also note that these rogue traders seem to target elderly and vulnerable people, if possible please keep a lookout for any neighbours or relatives that these people tend to prey upon."
