Cropped cannabis was seized by officers during a raid of a property on the Parson Cross estate on Wednesday.

After the pre-planned raid, South Yorkshire Police said drug dealing in the city, including cannabis, funds organised crime and issued a warning about how such gangs have links to firearms, modern day slavery and human trafficking.

The North East Neighbourhood Police Team said: “We target the right people for the right reasons at the right time.

“Like all illegal substances, the street dealing profits from this crop recovered during a warrant by the Parson Cross team would have funded organised crime, with links to firearms, modern day slavery and human trafficking.

“Criminal groups involved in the growing and distribution of cannabis are often involved in other serious organised crime and don’t care about the harm their activity can cause to the most vulnerable people in our society and this can often include the persons who are forced into their respective activities, including children.

“As always we can’t do this without the help of the public and would urge anyone with information on the supply of drugs or individuals involved in serious and organised crime, to please get in touch.”
