Police in Sheffield hunt men after attempted robbery

Two masked men are wanted by police over the attempted robbery of an off licence in Sheffield.

They burst into Malin Bridge Off Licence, Loxley Road, Malin Bridge, and demanded cash from staff inside.

When the shop workers refused to comply with the menacing demands, the robbers fled empty-handed.

Detectives want to hear from witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 10pm on Wednesday.

One offender was white, around 5ft 5ins tall and of a slim or athletic build.

He was wearing a backpack and spoke with a gruff voice with a Sheffield accent.

The other was around 5ft 4ins tall and slim. He wore a dark hooded top with orange writing over the chest and an orange scarf.

He may also have worn a backpack.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Two men with their faces covered entered the Malin Bridge Off Licence in Loxley Road and demanded money from staff.

“When the two staff members refused, the men turned and fled from the shop.

“The two men left the scene on foot and ran in the direction of Holme Lane. The staff members were shaken but unhurt.”
