Police officers are still searching for arsonists who dragged a set of bins into the middle of a Sheffield road and set them alight.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze on London Road at 12.30am on Monday.

London Road and Abbeydale Road have been plagued by anti-social behaviour over recent months.

Acting Inspector John Mallows, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “Anti-social behaviour of this nature will not be tolerated and we are working closely with the fire service and other partner agencies to identify those responsible.

“The deliberate act of setting fire to the bins was reckless and could have endangered lives.”

Witnesses or anyone with information about those responsible should call police on 101.
