POLICE and school pupils took part in a litter pick to help keep their village tidy.

Year 6 pupils from Barlborough Primary School in Derbyshire, took part in the event with police officers, staff from Bolsover District Council and workers from their local McDonalds restaurant.

They spent an hour collecting four sacks of rubbish from around the village, and the children who took part received a free meal from the fast food chain as thanks.

PC Jason Graham, of the Barlborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The kids enjoyed the afternoon but at the same time it helped to raise their awareness in relation to dropping litter.”
