A TEENAGE brother and sister were left ‘shaken and extremely distressed’ when a gang of men and youths verbally abused them on a train from Meadowhall.

Police said the youngsters were on the 7.25pm service from Meadowhall to Bolton on Dearne when they were approached by a gang of between six to eight men and teenagers who began teasing the pair before becoming abusive.

PC Roy Percival, of British Transport Police, said: “This understandably left the victims feeling shaken and extremely distressed.

“This was an intimidating ordeal for the victims, who had absolutely no chance of defending themselves against such a large group of men.

“As part of our enquiries we’ve followed up a number of leads, including speaking to people in the area at the time, but to no avail so far.

“We are now urging anyone who saw the incident, or who may have information, to come forward.”

Witnesses to the incident on Thursday, February 10 should call Transport Police on 0800 405040 quoting reference B8/NEA of March 14.
