RAM RAIDERS ploughed into a city newsagents to steal cigarettes.
The raiders deliberately drove into Martin’s on Northern Avenue, Arbourthorne, in the early morning raid yesterday.
Police said it caused “significant damage” to the shop, which is still trading.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Officers are investigating a burglary, which occurred around 2am on Friday, May 27, at a newsagent’s on Northern Avenue in the Arbourthorne area of the city.
“It is believed the suspects have used a vehicle to force entry to the newsagents and stolen a quantity of cigarettes.
“No one was injured during this incident, however, significant damage was caused to the premises.
Enquiries are ongoing to locate the suspects.”
A spokesman for Martin’s, which is part of a national chain, said: “We are aware of the incident and are helping police with their enquiries.”
