A HUNT is under way to find the owner of a dog which attacked two pet dogs – killing one of them – while they were out walking with their owner in Sheffield.

The killer dog – a pit bull terrier type – struck on Cammell Road, Firth Park, at 5.30am yesterday.

Police officers alerted to the incident managed to restrain the dog, which was loose at the time, and it was transferred to a council kennel while they began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack and tried to find its owner.

The two injured dogs were taken to a vet, but one had to be put down because of the seriousness of its injuries.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020.
