Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Henderson said: “Officers within our CID department are working really hard to establish the exact circumstances and motive surrounding both of these incidents, which due to the proximity in timings and similar location, we are treating as linked.”

Local residents have been advised to expect to see a heavier police presence in the area as enquiries into the stabbings continue.

Witnesses to the incidents or anyone with information about them should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 748 of February 4.
