Police find wanted man hiding under floorboards in Sheffield house

A man wanted for questioning by the police was found by officers hiding under floorboards in a Sheffield house.

The man was wanted over a number of burglaries in the city and was located by officers from the Woodhouse and Westfield neighbourhood policing team.

Local workmen used a camera to locate the man’s exact position and the boards were removed to release him.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Officers from our Woodhouse and Westfield neighbourhood team located a wanted male who thought that he could evade arrest by hiding under the floorboards in a property.

“After requesting the assistance of local workmen who happened to have a piece of camera equipment able to find the exact location of the male under the floor, he was arrested on suspicion of a number of burglaries and is currently in police custody.”
