Police dog chases down wanted man who tried to hide in Tesco store toilets

The alarm was raised after the 23-year-old breached his bail conditions for York Road, Rotherham, sparking an extensive search by uniformed and plain-clothes officers during the day of January 11.
At 11:15pm, a man matching the description was spotted by PC Aris and his colleague Traffic Officer PC Leach in the underpass on St Anne’s roundabout.

Hide AdWhen the police officers approached the suspect he ran off and PC Leach pursued him on the footpaths in the area.PC Aris and PD Bear joined the chase, and with the dog quickly catching up to the suspect, who ran inside the Tesco Store on Drummond Road and locked himself in the toilets.
PD Bear continued to bark outside the toilet door, alerting PC Aris to the suspect’s location.
The suspect eventually came out and was detained and taken to custody. He was remanded to appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.
PC Aris, Bear’s handler said: “PD Bear is still in his first year of the job, but I could not be prouder of his determination and success.

The suspect was due to appear before Sheffield Magistrate’s Court today (January 13).
