A road in Sheffield city centre is blocked off by police today after a man was found injured early this morning.

Police officers said the man was found on the Wicker at around 5.30am but enquiries are still under way to establish what happened to him.

They have closed off the section of road leading out of the city towards Spital Hill from just before the junction with Derek Dooley Way.

Police cars are blocking traffic at both ends of the road.

A police cordon, marked with tape, is in place around the block of buildings from the Palmyra Mediterranean restaurant to the Sheffield Trophy Centre.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police are currently investigating an incident at the Wicker, Sheffield, following reports that a man had been injured at around 5.30am this morning”. Anyone with information should call 101.”
