Police conducting searches after man and woman injured in Sheffield shooting

Police patrols have been stepped up on a Sheffield estate after two shootings in the space of an hour.

In the first attack, a 42-year-old woman and 23-year-old man were injured when a gun was fired at a house on Castledale Croft, Manor, at 7.57pm.

They were treated by paramedics at the scene and did not require hospital treatment.

Officers have taken away a Nissan Qashqai from the scene and are conducting fingertip searches of nearby gardens and roads.

At 9pm a gun was fired on nearby Prince of Wales Road, with detectives linking both incidents.

The circumstances of the second shooting have not yet been disclosed.

No arrests have yet been made but enquiries to identify those responsible are said to be ‘progressing at pace’.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries, and there will be an increased police presence in the area today.”
