Police close major Sheffield road after man, 24, shot

Police have closed a major Sheffield road after a 24-year-old man was “seriously injured” after being shot with a shotgun.

Police received a report from Yorkshire Ambulance Service at 8.29pm this evening (7 September) that a man had suffered “serious injuries consistent with shotgun discharge” on Abbeydale Road.The man was taken to hospital to receive treatment.

The road has been shut between the junction of Farrar Road, near Okeh Cafe, and Herschell Road, with officers spotted searching Mount Pleasant Park.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said “lots of resources” have been deployed as part of the investigation, with local residents reporting a police helicopter flying overhead. Police are also checking CCTV footage in the area.
