Police chief in call for action on child abuse

SOUTH Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner is urging people to report suspicions about child abuse.

Shaun Wright, who was elected into the new post in November, has called for people to contact the police with concerns after Action for Children published a report revealing one third of everyone with suspicions keeps them to themselves.

The report also found people fail to report their suspicions because they do not feel that they have enough evidence to justify calling the police.
