Police catch vandals attacking buses in Sheffield and promise ‘action will be taken’

South Yorkshire Police said the force has been working with First South Yorkshire following an increase in attacks on buses in Sheffield.

Yesterday, the Sheffield South East neighbourhood policing team, which covers areas including Westfield, Woodhouse, Darnall and Tinsley, took action against three culprits and arrested another suspect for a public order offence, for which he was issued with a fixed penalty notice.

The team said: “Officer have been working with our partners, First bus company, within our local communities.

“This is in response to an increase in criminal damage targeted at public transport vehicles by offenders throwing missiles and smashing bus windows.

“This evening we have apprehended three offenders acting anti-socially and have dealt with them accordingly at scene with further follow up action to be made.

“A further male has been arrested for a public order offence and has been issued with a fixed penalty notice.”
