Police arrest woman, 58, carrying two large KNIVES in busy shopping centre

Police have arrested a woman after she was found inside Doncaster’s Frenchgate shopping centre carrying two large knives.

Police swooped on the 58-year-old woman who was said to be acting suspiciously.

When she was stopped by officers, she was found to be in possession of two large knives.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “She has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and remains in police custody awaiting interview.”

Officers from Doncaster Central Neighbourhood Police Team made the discovery as part of an anti-knife initiative in the centre this morning.

32 people were searched using a ‘knife arch’ which can detect if people are carrying weapons.
