Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 2 how Asif Ismail Malik, aged 48, of Washington Road, Sheffield, was followed by police to an address in Sheffield where he was searched and voluntarily gave-up a wrap of heroin.

Malik pleaded guilty to possessing the class A drug after the search in September.

District Judge Paul Healey confirmed Malik has previous convictions involving violence and drug-dealing.

He sentenced Malik to a community order with a six-week curfew and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

Malik is due back in court on February 5 for the consideration of a police application for the defendant to be made subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order.
