Police appeal for petrol thief

A MOTORIST who drove off from a filling station without paying for fuel is being hunted by police.

He struck at Petrol Station House, Pleasley Road, Whiston, Rotherham, after pulling up in a white Vauxhall Combo van.

The vehicle had stolen number plates which had been taken from a vehicle in Sheffield the day before.

Police said he filled a number of canisters with fuel but when the garage owner became suspicious and approached him the driver made some verbal threats before dumping his canisters and driving off.

The garage owner used his phone to take a picture of the motorist.
