5. “Working to build a picture”
Chief Superintendent Kirby said: “We know that people have been at the site right across the weekend, from Friday through to Monday and it is really important that we speak to everyone who was there. We’re working to build up a picture of exactly who has been present and gather all the information and intelligence we need to identify who is responsible for this murder. Part of that will involve gathering video footage from those who have been in attendance, so please do share that with us if you have it.” Photo: Brian Eyre

6. Condolences to victim’s family
Chief Superintendent Kirby also shared his condolences to the victim’s loved ones following the tragic incident – and repeated his calls for anyone with information to come forward. He added: “As a father myself, I cannot begin to imagine the devastation this man’s family are feeling and my heart goes out to them as they begin to navigate their loss. We are absolutely committed to doing everything we can to support them through this difficult time and will work tirelessly to identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice – but we can’t do it alone. So please, if you have any information, get in touch. You may feel it’s not relevant but the information you provide could be key to helping this young man’s family understand why and how his life has ended in this horrific way.” Photo: Brian Eyre

7. Murder investigation
Detective Inspector Tony Owen, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), is leading the investigation. He said: “I am urgently appealing for anyone who attended the summer solstice event over the weekend to please speak to officers as soon as they can. A young man’s life has been taken in the most brutal way so it is vital that myself and the team build up a clear picture of the exact circumstances surrounding his death. This is why we urgently need to speak to everyone who was at the scene over the weekend. You may have only been there briefly and think you can’t help but you could hold the key piece of information we need to understand what has happened and help us to get justice for this young man’s family.” Photo: Brian Eyre
