Pensioner rushed to hospital after falling through floor in Barnsley

A pensioner was rushed to hospital on Thursday morning after he fell through the floor of a betting shop in Cudworth.

Emergency services were called at 11.34am following reports that an 80-year-old man had fallen through the floor at Coral betting shop on Barnsley Road.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "Early indications suggest that the floor had been weakened by a previous water leak.

"The man was removed from the floor by officers from the fire service and was taken to hospital for checks."
