Patrols to look for cars at risk

Police patrolled the streets of Burngreave and Firth Park looking for vehicles left unlocked or with valuables on display.

Inspector Simon Leake, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “This is like leaving an invitation to criminals to attack your vehicle.

“Please look after your vehicle and avoid the distress and inconvenience of being the next victim.”

On Saturday alone 280 parked cars were checked across the city and 64 were found unlocked.
