Oxford crash: The ‘quiet’ Sheffield mum who ran bible study groups and helped parents

A Sheffield woman killed in a horror crash with three of her four children helped run a church group and was an online blogger for mums.

Zoe Powell, aged 29, died when her family car – a Subaru people carrier – was involved in a collision with a lorry in Oxfordshire on Monday night.

The married mum-of-four died alongside three of her children in the horrific crash.

Her husband, Josh, and their youngest child were critically injured and remain in hospital today.

A police investigation into the circumstances is under way, with the officer leading the probe describing the collision as an ‘incredibly tragic’ and ‘horrendous’ incident.

He said emergency services were faced with an ‘extremely upsetting’ scene.

Zoe moved to the village of Chinnor, Oxfordshire, in 2014 after relocating from Sheffield with her husband and first-born child.

The other three children were born in Oxfordshire.

Zoe was an online parenting blogger, created journals for mums and produced produced weavings, prints and cards.

Describing herself on a website promoting Christian artists, designers and makers, Zoe revealed that her family were members of their local church and she helped with the toddler group and was involved in youth work.

With her husband, she held a weekly bible study class for teenagers at her home.

In an online question and answer section, when asked how friends would describe her, Zoe said: “I asked my friend and she said ‘overflowing with love’. I’m not sure that’s entirely accurate, probably kind, quiet and creative.”
