Overheating games console causes bedroom fire in Rotherham

An overheating games console has caused a fire in a bedroom in Rotherham on Wednesday night.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said firefighters from Rotherham station were called to a fire in a bedroom at 10pm on Wednesday (January 22) on Tennyson Road, Herringthorpe.

They said the fire, which was already out on their arrival, started due to clothes being placed around the games console which then overheated.

The crews left the scene at 10:45pm.
