Operation Duxford has returned to the city, with targeted enforcement action and engagement activity underway today (April 15).

The boots-on-ground patrol work targets drug supply, burglary, vehicle crime, the use of illegal off-road bikes, and anti-social behaviour.

Acting Inspector Elizabeth Wilson said as of time of writing (1pm) five warrants had been executed in the Arbourthorne, Manor and Wybourn areas of Sheffield.

She said: “Operation Duxford is all about providing a platform for our officers to act on the daily intelligence gathering and proactive police work already going on in your neighbourhoods.

“It’s an opportunity for us to provide you with a snapshot of the enforcement action and positive results that can culminate from the intelligence you provide us with.

“We know the issues affecting the people of Manor and Arbourthorne and our collective efforts – as always – will be on identifying criminal activity and stopping it at its source.

“We’re also working on hyper-local issues which have the potential to spiral into something much more serious – such as dangerous parking outside our schools.

“If you see us today, please don’t be alarmed. A huge part of Operation Duxford is engagement with the public, and our officers will be more than happy to explain the reason for our presence to you.

“Keep an eye on our social media channels throughout the week for updates on Duxford’s progress, and don’t forget that you can report information to us 24 hours a day on our website or by calling 101.”

A police spokesperson said: “We recognise not everyone wants to speak directly to police. If this is you, you can report information completely anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“Remember to always dial 999 in an emergency.”
